BorgWarner part number 59001107387 is a new updated high pressure turbocharger actuator for 2008-2010 Ford trucks with 6.4L Power Stroke diesel engines.

BorgWarner turbo actuator 59001107387 is a brand new, plug-and-play retrofit controller for 2008-2010 Ford 6.4L PowerStroke diesel turbochargers. This advanced actuator replaces the most failure-prone component of the V2S twin turbo system.  BorgWarner engineered this solution that features BorgWarner’s latest compact brush less actuator (CBA), a new bracket, linkage, hardware, and a thermal spacer.  No cooling manifold or calibration update is required.  This kit is the right fit for any 2008–2010 Ford F-250, F-350, F-450, or F-550 Super Duty with the 6.4L Power Stroke V2S system.  This can be used to replace the original style actuator that was water-cooled, or will replace an updated actuator.  Be sure to check the linkage that this actuator connects to on the turbocharger for freedom of movement.  If the veins inside the turbo are sticking or stuck, replacing the actuator will not correct the problem.

Common turbocharger problems in the 6.4L PowerStroke diesel arise from its complex sequential (compound) turbo design, often accelerated by issues with oil quality, emissions systems, and electronic controls.  The sequential turbo system uses a high-pressure (small) and low-pressure (large) turbo, which provides excellent power when working properly, but due to its complexity, it increases potential failure points.  Turbo actuator failure (P132B/P2563 Codes) is a common issue.  The actuator is the electronic controller for the variable-geometry turbo (VGT) vanes.  The actuator often fails due to broken internal plastic gears, resulting in low boost, erratic boost, or “limp mode”.  Oil dilution and contamination from the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) regeneration process can cause diesel fuel that was intended to go into the exhaust system to leak past the piston rings and into the crankcase, contaminating the engine oil.  This thinned oil cannot properly lubricate the high-speed turbo bearings, leading to premature bearing failure, shaft play, and oil seal failures.  Excessive soot from the EGR system can cause the variable-geometry vanes on the high-pressure turbo to stick, causing erratic boost pressures and sluggish performance.  A high-pitched, siren-like whine or squeal noise is often an early sign that the turbocharger compressor wheel is rubbing against the housing or that bearings are failing, which can result in catastrophic failure where the turbos break apart.

Due to high mileage or problems listed above, it is typically wise to replace both the high pressure and low pressure turbochargers at the same time.  This BorgWarner turbo assembly has all the latest updates and is built to original equipment specifications.  The labor time to change the turbos on this application is 15 hours.  Replacing the whole assembly the first time saves a second costly repair if you only change the high pressure or low pressure turbo separately.  This part number includes only the high pressure turbo actuator, not the turbo.
