Installation Instructions:
This chip physically mounts onto the engine computer board pictured above. The computer board was covered in a protective coating that must be removed to allow the chip to make good contact with the multiple connections on the board. Failure to clean the board completely results in a no start or intermittent running problems. We recommend pulling the ECM out of the truck, removing the screws that hold the case together, removing the covers, and then cleaning the board. Start by scraping off the coating where the chip mounts with something like a flat-tip screwdriver. Then use the supplied scotch bright pad to clean the rest. If the silver coating turns to copper, stop. You cleaned too much. You can test fit the chip onto the board and, if you look closely, you can see marks left of the connections from the chip. We even use a little lacquer thinner to clean any remaining sealer off. That will show areas not completely cleaned. When complete, attach the switch cord to the chip, reinstall the covers on the board, then install the chip onto the board. Use some duct tape to hold the chip securely and cover the hole in the case. Then slide the ECM back into the plastic sleeve and run the switch through an access hole you made in the cover or be very careful when pinching the wires between the ECM and sleeve. Install the ECM and then install the switch.
