Garrett part number 739619-5004S is a brand-new performance upgrade turbocharger for late 1999-2003 Ford trucks with the 7.3L PowerStroke diesel engine.

Garrett Advancing Motion is a leader in turbocharger design and manufacturing as well as one of the world’s largest turbo manufacturers.  Garrett was the original supplier of turbos for the 1999-2003 Ford turbochargers, so they have an engineering understanding of the 7.3L PowerStroke diesel engine.  With that knowledge, Garrett developed the”GTP38R” turbo for the 7.3L Pickup.  This turbo was one of the originators for the performance turbo market on the 7.3L Powerstroke and this turbo has proven to be a winner in towing applications and on or off the track.   The advanced bearing design, airflow design, adjustable waste gate, recirculated compressor cover and many others make it the perfect performance upgrade for vehicle owners looking for improved power.

For example, the 2000 model year 7.3L Powerstroke engine produced a stock rating of 235 horsepower at 2,700 RPM and 500 lb-ft of torque at 1,600 RPM. This applies to both automatic and manual transmission configurations.  This Garrett PowerMax turbo is made to handle up to 590 horsepower, which is 2.5 times the stock power level!  So if you have the typical upgrades like a performance chip, exhaust, and intake system, you will still be well within the limits of this turbo.  And, you don’t have to have a lot of upgrades to benefit from the upgrades in this turbo, like the ball bearings that have less drag on the main shaft and produce quicker spool up.
