The GM 8 lug steering system is a weak link even at stock power levels. The geometry of the steering linkage to the tires causes tow in problems that lead to premature tire wear issues at the least, to all out steering failure at the worst. If you ever watched a GM truck coming towards you at the drag strip or truck pulls and saw both front hub caps at the same time, you know what I am talking about. Many people think the tiny tie rod ends are the problem. The tie rod ends are weak and need upgrading, but they only get the brunt of the problem and are not the cause.
Here is my recommendation on fixing the problem in the order of importance. If you want the quick answer and don't want to real all of this stuff, scroll to the bottom of this page and buy one upgrade from each of the three parts and you will be ready to go.
