Ford's design for the 6.0L oil cooler uses thin fins that coolant circulates through. These tiny passages can clog and restrict the flow of coolant. The Bulletproof team redesigned the system by moving the oil cooler out in front of the radiator to be cooled by air. Engine coolant is no longer used in the oil cooler and is sent directly to the EGR cooler instead. The engine oil is treated by a real spin-on oil filter for better filtration and easier maintenance. No longer will the engine and coolant temperatures be tied together, allowing for a cooler running engine. This is especially important when the truck is used in towing applications!
