Description

Huckstorf Diesel Rebuilt Stanadyne DB2829-4502 Diesel Injection Pump for 1982-1987 6.2 LD Chevy/GMC GM 6.2L Light Duty Diesel Engines

Note:  4502 pumps are not available due to part obsolescence.  We will substitute a 4544 if you order this part number.  The difference is slightly more fuel and a different advance curve.

Check the 1982-1988 6.2 HD  4544 for availability.  If we do not show availability in stock, we are waiting for cores to be returned and / or do not have one to rebuild.  We can rebuild and return yours and core charges are not required. https://hdiesel.com/product/stanadyne-1986-88-6-2l-hd/

Huckstorf Diesel rebuilds exchange injection pumps for the 1982-1987 6.2 LD Chevy/GMC GM 6.2L light duty diesel engines. These pumps are rebuilt using all the necessary parts to make the pump perform as good as, or better than new. Our technicians carefully inspect each part. All parts that don’t pass our strict criteria get replaced with original equipment Stanadyne parts. We do not install inferior, lower quality, less expensive parts. Each pump is carefully set to the high side of the Stanadyne specifications to give you the optimal performance.

If you prefer to have your fuel injection pump rebuilt instead of taking an exchange, we can certainly do that for you. With this option we can sometimes save you money if your pump is in better shape than the average and need to install fewer parts than the average. We can also customize your pump for special applications that require different fuel calibrations than stock.

In 1982 General Motors introduced the 6.2L diesel engine.  It replaced the Oldsmobile 5.7L diesel.  The engine was designed to be a more fuel efficient option to the gas engines of the time.  The 6.2 diesel engine was manufactured by Detroit Diesel (a division of General Motors) with economy as the goal not power and torque.  Horsepower numbers started at 130 HP @ 3600 rpm and peaked at 143 HP @ 3600 rpm.  Torque ranged from 240 lb-ft @ 2000 rpm to 257 lb-ft @ 2000 rpm.  A military version produced 165 hp @ 3600 rpm and 330 lb-ft @ 2100 rpm.

Through the years there were many different variations in the 6.2 diesel injection pumps.  The engine application codes were based off the Truck Style, Model Designation, and if the engine was equipped with or without a turbocharger.

This pump will work on the following applications.  Due to minor differences this pump may not be a direct supersession, but will work properly.  If you want your pump built to a specific model code, Huckstorf Diesel will be happy to do that for you.  If you want to have your pump customized for a performance application we can do that also.  Give us a call and we can discuss your options!

Core Charges

This part requires an acceptable matching rebuildable core be sent in to avoid paying the core charges.  Worn out advance piston housings that can not be machined to accept available larger piston sizes will result in a reduction of the core charge refund.

With Core Option = Means you will pay the core charge up front, and when an acceptable core is returned to Huckstorf Diesel the core charge will be refunded back to you.  An acceptable matching core must be received within 30 days of the ship date to receive full core credit.

Without Core Option = An acceptable matching core must be received before the exchange is sent out.

An acceptable core is one that is rebuildable with typical replacement parts.  Major damage such as rust, housing damage, critical broken parts will be cause for partial or no core refund.  If you have any questions on this policy please call or send your pump in first for inspection.  Normally a pump that comes off a running engine in need of typical repairs is fine.  Pumps that sat for years in junk yards, fire damaged, collision damaged, etc. may not be accepted.

We are always looking to purchase good cores.  Contact us if you have any rebuildable cores to sell.
